English: Late 9th Century silver annular brooch, 9.5 cm in length, found near Roscrea, Co Tipperary. It is of a classical Irish design and craftsmanship, but uses Viking materials and technology, particularly silver and amber. It is thus is of great archelogical importance as it shows a fusion of the two traditions. It is on display at the National Museum of Ireland.[1] It is object number 38 of A History of Ireland in 100 Objects. |
