The Battle of Wan occurred in 1726 CE. It was the first major battle involving Sikhs since the execution of Banda Singh Bahadur.

Events

The cause of this was Chaudry Sahib Rai, a government informant who kept complaining to the Faujdar of Patti. He kept complaining on how Tara Singh always keeps criminals instead of turning them in.[3][unreliable source?][4][unreliable source?] At first, the faujdar sent 25 horse cavalry and 80 troops, but one of Wan's colleagues fought bravely and killed the commander and several troops. Commander Jafar Beg told all about it to Zakariya Khan, who sent a high number of troops including 2200 cavalry, 5 elephants, 40 camel loaded guns and 4 artillery guns which defeated the Sikhs in battle with heavy casualties.[5]
