Bannalec (French pronunciation: [banalɛk]; Breton: Banaleg) is a commune in the Finistère department in the Brittany region in northwestern France.[3] Bannalec station has rail connections to Quimper, Lorient and Vannes. Bannalec is twinned with the Irish town of Castleisland.

Climate

Bannalec has a oceanic climate (Köppen climate classification Cfb). The average annual temperature in Bannalec is 12.0 °C (53.6 °F). The average annual rainfall is 1,221.0 mm (48.07 in) with January as the wettest month. The temperatures are highest on average in August, at around 18.1 °C (64.6 °F), and lowest in January, at around 6.3 °C (43.3 °F). The highest temperature ever recorded in Bannalec was 38.0 °C (100.4 °F) on 9 August 2003; the coldest temperature ever recorded was −10.9 °C (12.4 °F) on 2 January 1997.

Breton language

In 2008, 7.91% of primary-school children attended bilingual schools, where Breton language is taught alongside French.[7]
