Description
English: In the Van der Werfpark (built in 1886) in Leiden the silver maples have been attacked by fungi for some time. Two of the nine old silver maples are already been cut of at a height of four meters. The girth of this dead tree is 2.81 meter. The biggest one of the silver maples has a girth of 4.44 meter.

Het Van der Werkpark ligt op de plek van de Leidse buskruitramp (12 januari 1807). De negen zilveresdoorns staan in een halve cirkel achter het in 1874 aldaar geplaatste standbeeld van burgemeester Pieter Adriaansz. van der Werff, burgemeester tijdens het Ontzet van Leiden (1574). Het park werd in 1886 aangelegd.
