The Executive Council of Victoria oversees Victoria's executive branch of Government. Ministers of the executive council undertake responsibilities inline with their portfolio area and are responsible for the subordinate government departments relevant to their ministry positions.[1] The Governor of Victoria presides of the Executive council, however, is not a member.[2]

Cabinet of Victoria

Unlike the executive council, the Cabinet, consists of the Premier and senior ministers chosen by the Premier. It functions as the mechanism through which the government makes decisions on policy, the legislative program, and administrative issues. The Cabinet, chaired by the Premier, is a political and decision-making body where key policies are discussed and formulated. These decisions are then presented to the Executive Council for formal approval and implementation.[3]

Currently, following portfolios grant an Member of Parliament a seat at cabinet:[4]
