Fulidhoo (Dhivehi:ފުލިދޫ) is the most northern of the inhabited islands of Vaavu Atoll in the Maldives. It is famous for Maldivian cultural events like Langiri, a traditional dance with drums and Thaara.[3]

Geography

Fulidhoo is located in Vaavu Atoll, the island is 55.7 km (35 mi; 30 nmi) south of the country's capital, Malé.[4] The land area of the island is 11.3 ha (28 acres) in 2018,[5] up from 9.7 ha (24 acres) in 2007.[6] The island has a large lagoon, which is used as a natural harbour.[7] The island’s north side is covered by lush trees and bushes and in the northwest overhanging trees form a natural tunnel.

It is unknown why the population of Fulidhoo is Decreasing, although it has decreased by about 40 people within 18 Years.

Economy

In 2012, Fulidhoo had two fishing vessels.[9] The majority of the catch was of fish from the Lutjanidae (snappers) and Carangidae (jacks) families.[3]

Healthcare

Fulidhoo is home to a small nursing station that provides basic healthcare services to the island’s residents.[10] There is also a pharmacy in Fulidhoo, but there is not much information about this Place.[11]
