I know that if (hypothetically) I want to send someone to ANI, I must notify them. However, do I have to use {{ANI-notice}} to do so, or can I just leave a message to the same effect? I'm seeing this problem as well, using Chrome Version 101.0.4951.64 (Official Build) (x86_64) for Mac OS. It manifests for me as a missing bar in the + character in the "Identities" section, as well as two places in which the lower-right curl of the "x" character is missing. Yes, but you may have to fight with Getty to get that cleared up. Maybe the Austrian police are using Getty for relicensing. Wikipedia does not have profiles, not a single one- Wikipedia has articles. Please first review WP:COI and WP:PAID for information on required formal disclosures. Removing extraneous length of template

I wrote a template for my user page (see User:Capsulecap/Accounts). Everything seems to be fine, except for the extraneous length. I believe the items hidden by the #if parser functions when not included are contributing to the problem. Is there any wikicode or CSS I can add to fix this? Mr Reading Turtle Wikipedia tends to discourage any moving or flashing items. It interferes with too many readers' ability to enjoy the content. That being said, I think you can do whatever you want on your personal user page. You can also ask for talk page advice before adding any flashing images to any articles. That being said, I don't know how to make a template flash, but here are editors who help make infoboxes. They may know. The easiest thing to do would probably be to upload an animated file as a gif or something. Why do I have access to the IP info tool?

I thought only CheckUsers could get information from IP addresses. However, when I look at any IP's contributions page, I see this "IP information" tool telling me to agree to a policy to use it. English Translation of Lyrics Formatting

Hello! I've been having trouble with formatting my article Saetaryeong to include an English version of the lyrics next to the Korean version with Hanja. Any tips or suggestions? I used <poem> to format it. Arirang has a nice example of what I'm looking for, but I tried experimenting with the code they used, but it ultimately failed. Its slightly problematic that I have an audio file within the lyrics section, but I'd like to keep it that way. I'm also having trouble putting citations into the <poem> but that's a different problem.

Haiiya, "The song uses onomatopoeia" and yes, even to the non-speaker of Korean (e.g. me) at one point (르르르르르) this is particularly obvious. But it's pretty much lost to non-speakers unless you also provide a transcription. Actually it's not clear to me why you have the original in hangul/hanja, in that anyone who can read and benefit from this could get it from a Korean-language page (perhaps the Korean-language Wikipedia article on this). ¶ So I'd think hard about what's best for this article before worrying about how to achieve it. When you do know what you want for the poem, try it out in your sandbox and perhaps invite people there; when you (singular/plural) have got something good, copy it into the article. ¶ Meanwhile, outside this poem but within the article you have a lot of Korean and Sino-Korean words that convention says should be italicized. How to add a photo with email permission of the author & copyright owner

The photo in question is an author photo. I wrote her asking if she had one we could use on her wikibio page and she sent me one. Now I just need to figure out how to upload & license it. If not, it's unusable. If (i) or (ii) applies, then go to Wikimedia Commons, follow the prompts, and answer honestly. It depends on who took the photo. People often don't realise that with wedding photos and portraits, the photographer who took the photo retains the copyright. You can contact the Volunteer Response Team (formerly OTRS) to discuss donating this file to Wikipedia or Commons. In theory, you could ask the photographer to release the copyright so that it could be donated to Wikimedia Commons. But the usual advice is to take the photo yourself, or get someone else to take a photo of you. Hello, Pete. If she holds the copyright in the photo (which she will not unless it's a selfie, or she has an agreement with the photographer that specifically assigns her the copyright) then she may license it suitably. The easiest way is for her to create an account and upload it to Wikipedia Commons herself. More fiddly, but possible, is for her to send an email according to Donating copyright materials. "Vis-à-vis" is not Latin, it's French. And "Analogue vis-a-vis digital" doesn't make sense, any more than "Renting vis-a-vis buying". Using French phrases, that people won't understand because they've been misused, is so clearly not a good idea that I don't know why you'd need guidelines. Synonym Stance

Hi. Recently I've been editing the article ephemerality. Nominally, you may not know that word or the descriptor, ephemeral, however with synonyms such as transient, fleeting and momentary, you probably do. Ephemeral is ostensibly the preferred term by academics and the such however would it be appropriate to still cite material described as any of the above synonyms and relate(/literary change wording to) (the) ephemeral. It's not clear to me that ephemerality is actually about a topic. See the license at the bottom of the page at African Journal of Disability. I do quite a lot of editing about disability and use this journal quite a bit. Uploading screenshot of Wikipedia article

I vaguely remember reading that when you upload an image purely for use on a talk page (in this case a screenshot of what an article looks like on my screen), you should upload it locally. I can't find it back, and Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard seems to suggest otherwise, so wonder if anybody can tell what the correct place is to upload this. If the screenshot is just text, then it should be OK to upload even to Commons; just make sure you follow WP:REUSE and properly attribute original article. You can use c:Template:Own based, but you shouldn't choose a more restrictive license than Wikipedia's standard license. If the screenshot contains copyrighted content (like images) that has been uploaded to Commons under separate licenses for use in the article, you should make sure you attribute each individual image as well. If the screenshot includes non-free content, you probably shouldn't upload it since doing so will make hard to use on talk pages per WP:NFCC#9 and WP:TPG#Non-free images, and Commons won't accept it per c:COM:FAIR. — Marchjuly (talk) 07:04, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion log of articles that are still live

Go to the history tab and click the "View logs for this page" link at the top. Horizontally squished titles on pages with discussion archives

I'm using en.m.wikipedia.org on a 1080px wide phone screen. On some pages with discussion archives - I've observed this on WP:Teahouse and WP:AN - the archives box (Template:Teahouse questions navbox) takes up nearly the full screen width, but the first section header tries really hard to render to the left of it anyway, and I get an unreadable column of one-character-per-line text. WP:ANI, notably, does not do this; I can't tell what it's doing differently, and it looks like the same template as WP:AN.

I doubt just slapping clear: both; on the div in that template is the right solution, since that would also apply to much wider screens where text does fit to the left of it. min-width: some-reasonable-number; on the header might work, but that's not a thing I can poke at as an editor. That's an option in cases of extreme breakage, and I do it occasionally. I tried it full time for a while but I do legitimately prefer the mobile UI on phone screens. My edit

I edited your page on ‘Ganges’, as the river is NOT called Ganges. It’s only and real and true name is: Ganga. I changed it to Ganga, but you have reverted the change back to Ganges. It’s my humble request to please change the name to Ganga and allow these changes.

Also, it should be added to the history section, that the real name of the river is Ganga; Ganges is not the correct name and was changed to dominate over Indian culture.
