| Description |
English: Protesters gathered across from the United States Post Office on Maple Street in Summit, New Jersey, to show support for the post office. Signs such as 'Save the Post Office' were held by the crowd of approximately 100 persons. Protesters wore masks and maintained a distance of six feet from each other as a precaution during the Covid-19 pandemic. A veteran spoke about how he voted by mail while serving overseas in Japan during the 1990s. Lacey Rzeszowski organized the protest, as a founding member of the group 'Summit Marches On', and she read a letter from NJ US senator Menendez about why the post office should be preserved. Councilwoman Susan Hairston, who is a fourth generation resident of Summit, spoke as well. Motorists passing by honked to show support. |
