File:Russian Federation (orthographic projection).svg

You protected the image File:Russian Federation (orthographic projection).svg in 2014 for good reason. I was hoping to upload a version updated with the South Sudan border added (and no other changes). Is there a way to do that? Hogweard (talk) 15:55, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Request

Hello.

As an administrator, can you add the border of South Sudan in the protected (because of the previous edit wars due to Crimea) File:Russian Federation (orthographic projection).svg? This map is widely used, and that is why the current de-jure border with South Sudan needs to be shown.

Yours sincerely, Maphobbyist (talk) 12:30, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

I have uploaded a fresh version: Russian Federation (orthographic projection)2.svg, with the border added. Ideally, the image on this version would replace the existing one, allowing the new upload to be deleted as redundant.Hogweard (talk) 15:54, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Hello. Denniss.
Can you please make just this little change by adding the de-jure border of South Sudan (which is not in dispute, unlike Crimea) in this map, without removing the protection? That is all. So many Wikipedia articles are using this map. That is why, it urgently needs to be updated. Please send a reply. Otherwise, I will make the request to other administrators.
Yours sincerely, Maphobbyist (talk) 12:15, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
I reply is appreciated, so I can move ahead on this. Maphobbyist (talk) 00:51, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

File:Flag-map of Russia.svg

Hello. Why do you reverted this file to version without Crimea? Crimea is a part of Russian Federation since 2014. Please delete the protect of this file or upload a version with Crimea. Or if you want, version where Crimea will be mark as a disputed region. Thank you! Kirill SH (talk) 18:00, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

You may upload such a version if the occupation/annexation of Crimea is internationally recognized (by the UN for example). I don't see that coming for the next 100 years. You still have the option to upload a modifed file ander a new name. --Denniss (talk) 18:22, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello @Denniss: Happy New Year, I hope you're doing well. I noticed you tagged File:Semi-Erect Uncircumcised Penis.jpg for speedy, but you didn't informed the user about their file being considered for deletion which is considered not good. I did inform the user on your behalf. Thanks, stay safe. --C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 08:41, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Comment deletion of other users

Hi, do you commonly delete people's talk page comments without even the courtesy of an edit summary? I suspect you know that's not on. - Randwicked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randwicked (talk • contribs) 09:19, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

  • Just to reinforce this. You do not get to censor other editors like this. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:34, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Kilmarnock incidents image

Hello. You have nominated the above image for deletion, citing an article in The Sun online newspaper as a reason for deletion request. As you can see clearly, this article has used this image and acknowledged the photographer who in this case has licensed it to be used by the article. This image was taken and then heavily circulated across the media, following its upload to Wikimedia. Goodreg3 (talk) 12:28, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

  • @Denniss: I believe your nomination of File:Crosshouse Hospital incident, 2021.jpg for speedy? deletion was incorrect. I did a due diligence check on this file when first added to English Wikipedia and found Goodreg3's claim to be own work to be credible (not confirmed but highly credible). The URL given in the summary as evidence [1] is currerntly being forwarded for me to a page proclaiming account on hold for non-payment of invoices. @Túrelio I believe you incorrectly deleted this file without due diligence and should undelete. 81.148.7.74 00:24, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
As the URL has now come back online I can see there is a possibility this was not an "own work" (My "memory" recalls this was an "own work" copyright claim). As such this may have needed an e.g. OTRS confirmation. I'd suggest Goodreg3 to enquire at the help desk for advice. I assume the claim of "own work" for File:Scene of Kilmarnock stabbings, Feb 2021.jpg remains valid. 81.148.7.74 18:07, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
  • @Goodreg3 a quick scan of your contributions to Commons seems to indicate a basic understanding of copyright with a mixture of own work and images not own work but from other sources such as flickr and you seem to have made good faith attempts for correct licensing ... can you confirm you are not disputing the deletion of the two other images nominated by Denniss in the same cohort ... namely File:Johnny Orlando.jpg and Rolf Sartorius.png ... I assume you accept these were not your own work and did not claim as such and that you have hopefully inadvertently in good faith fallen foul of copyright issues. 81.148.7.74 00:24, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

File:BlankMap-World-v2.png

Could you add a verified source please? The correct process if no source is supplied then the defined process is to escalate to a deletion request, the tag should not be removed without it. If you are not interested in doing the verification, we have to escalate to a deletion request to resolve it. Thanks -- (talk) 14:35, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

It looks like someone else has added more information today. -- (talk) 17:54, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Moved from talk page

file moving

please never ever delete redirects of files after moving, especially for files present here for years. These deletetions are only supposed to be done for newly uploaded files. Thank you. --Denniss (talk) 11:55, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I had a big discussion about a week ago, about this, and have left redirects for almost all files (except the new ones (newly uploads)). So I place this on your talk page, I almost left Commons, because a lot of file movers did it or still do it and I don't wanna talk about it anymore. They made a sort of example out of me, while I did most things right. Why you're coming now? I had only one complaint in 2020 (when I moved 10.000+ files) and this year this is the third and I already changed some things. I was following the rules, but with some files or users I didn't leave a redirect (sometimes on request), but that is the past. If it happens again, it must be a mistake or something. Thanks for your attention. So there is no need to remind me of that now. - Richardkiwi (talk) (talk) 12:31, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Nothing personally, I just had some redirects popping-up in a maintenance cat pointing to another redirect deleted by you while moving. If you stumble abouve filemovers that always delete redirects you may want to point them at the official guideline Commons:File_renaming#Leaving_redirects --Denniss (talk) 13:09, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Protection for File:Flag of Finland 1918 (state).svg

Hello, would it be possible to change the protection status for File:Flag of Finland 1918 (state).svg? I've found a better source image for the style of the flag and have made an updated vector version of the file but can't update the file due to its current protection status. Thank you in advance. --Fenn-O-maniC (talk) 10:57, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
