Suggestion of a Set

How about doing a Set with these images instead of naming it one by one? 1. How does it work when I nominate a set? I have created a set of over 300 photos that I want to nominate. Can people vote for separate photos in the set or will they be voting for all the photos with one vote?

2. Why do I have to withdraw my nominations?

They will vote for all the photos with one vote. Users will analyze all and support or not the Set. Is allowed to have only two open nominations. More than two is not allowed. Please understand that your comment:

"These images have been deleted because it was SUSPECTED to be copyvio. No poofs of copyvio have been presented."

has the burden of proof backwards. It is up to you, as the uploader, to prove beyond a significant doubt that the images are free, so the fact that they are suspected to be copyvios is certainly sufficient for their immediate deletion.

Commons depends on being able to trust various people. As a matter of policy, we assume that Commons editors are acting in good faith until they give us reason to doubt it, but that policy does not extend to Flickr users and other outsiders. A Flickr user who has many obvious copyvios on his site is blacklisted by Commons as a matter of course.

Feature Picture Candidates

Hi, I have taken out your 2 last nominations (this and this) from the candidates list (for now nobody can see them), since a nominator can only have 2 active nominations at the same time. If you want to relaunch those 2 you should restart the timers in the templates, but to keep it simple I can delete the pages and you can created those 2 later on. Exactly, 5 QI candidates/day and 2 running FP candidates/nominator.

You have to wait anyhow until the other 2 are through, and when that's the case you should change the pages you created as if they were new, otherwise the running time for the nominations could be zero. As said, the easiest is if I delete them and you create them again when needed. Btw, you shouldn't nominate similar images. Make up your mind what is better and nominate that, not different similar versions Poc o² 15:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Requested file move

Hi, I just thought I leave a note to explain why I actioned one of your move requests, but not the other. I could move File:Clownen Manne, 2015-02-08 1 (crop).jpg because the target name was free, however, I am not an admin so can't delete File:Clownen Manne, 2015-02-08 1.jpg and move File:Clownen Manne, 2015-02-08 4.jpg to that name. This does not mean that the file rename request is invalid, or won't be actioned, it will just take a little longer (as it has to wait until an admin gets to it). You needn't rescind your request, as you did here, and you should feel free to reinstate the request if you so wish (it should be done in the next few hours or so). Hi, you could ask for admin and translateadmin access at https://test.wikipedia.org/ (don't forget to clean up) or you can discourage (i.e. not remove from) translation of the template after marking it for translation. Det har ivrats om att slå på det på Commons än på något annat projekt, så är det avslaget så är det nog av någon anledning. Det svar jag minns är att man inte är klara med en del problem som hör ihop med flerspråkiga wikis. Hi Abbedabb, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
Please do not tag redirects as {{speedy}}. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

I've noticed User:abbedabbot previously and didn't mention anything, however, I am once again finding myself patrolling your bot's edits. With over 5,000 edits to date, I think it's time you either go through the bot process or if a 'crat deems that unnecessary, your bot needs to be granted the autopatrolled flag that you also hold. While using your bot to separate your edits from your main account, you're causing more work for patrollers. That might be a good idea. When applying for permission to run the bot I got replies like "You don't need a bot just to do edits on your own files", but I think the people involved didn't realize that I upload A LOT of files. -abbedabb^talk 06:53, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the ping, @Riley. I just had a look at the bot's contributions and noticed that it is only being used around once in a month, and it makes a couple hundred edits at a time. I'm not convinced that it requires a bot flag, really, but it would definitely require at least the autopatrolled flag to ease the burden on our patrollers. I think a second opinion could be handy here, so I'll allow myself to ping @Krd to see what he thinks. odder (talk) 08:05, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

Template:Abbedabb/ESCcaption/i18n

Hi! I translated Template:Abbedabb/ESCcaption/i18n to ukrainian and I am going to translate it to russian, but it disregards that in ukrainian language (as well as in all slavic languages) there are 7 different grammatical cases (the case depends on the place of word in the sentence and on other words of the sentence), so sentences in ukrainian are shown incorrectly (words represented by "$country" and "$EurovisionSongContest" are always shown in nominative case which is not always right). Thank you so much for translating! This sounds tricky. $EurovisionSongContest gets text from Template:ESCname and from Template:ESCname/city. So editing them (that's pretty easy) could probably change that problem. $country is more difficult, since that is not my template. Problem translating Template:Abbedabb/ESC/i18n

Hi.

There is a problem with the Persian translation of Template:Abbedabb/ESC/i18n that I think you should be aware of. I have translated "This photo was taken ..." into "این عکس گرفته شده ..." because of the restrictions of the translation interface. ("..." is where the rest of the sentence goes.) In reality, it must be translated "این عکس ... گرفته شده". In other words, "این عکس" should appear at the very beginning and "گرفته شده" at the very end.

Example:

Currently:

این عکس گرفته شده هنگام مسابقه‌ی سرود یوروویژن سال 2016 توسط Albin Olsson با دوربین Nikon D600 از حوضه‌ی فناوری Wikimedia Sverige.

Should be:

این عکس هنگام مسابقه‌ی سرود یوروویژن سال 2016 توسط Albin Olsson با دوربین Nikon D600 از حوضه‌ی فناوری Wikimedia Sverige گرفته شده.

Perhaps you can deploy a manual fix.

Let me put it this way, so that you can copy and paste. I will give each distinct Persian phrase a unique color.

"This photo was taken" is translated into "این عکس گرفته شده" because

"This photo" is translated into "این عکس"
"was taken" is translated into "گرفته شده"

But whereas in English, you put the rest of your sentence after "This photo was taken", in Persian, you must put them between "این عکس" (appearing at the beginning) and "گرفته شده" (appearing at the end right before ".").

Same goes for "This video was recorded":

"This video" is translated into "این فیلم" (appearing at the beginning)
"was recorded" is translated into "ضبط شده" (appearing at the end)

The reminder of the sentence goes between "این فیلم" (beginning) and "ضبط شده" (end).
