HSV Hamburg is a handball club from Germany, located in Hamburg. Currently, HSV Hamburg competes in the 3. Liga Nord. The full name in German is Handball Sport Verein Hamburg e.V. but the club is usually called HSV Handball, HSV Hamburg or just HSV.

HSV Hamburg is the former handball category of VfL Bad Schwartau and the HSV Lübeck, connected in 1999. In 2002 they were relocated to Hamburg in order to grow and renamed. After the relocation they had financial troubles and almost lost licence for the German First League of Handball.[1] With the investment of the new president Andreas Rudolph in 2005, the club was able to focus again on the gaming operation.
The HSV Hamburg is not a division of Hamburger Sportverein, they only have the rights to use their logo and their abbreviation for publicity purposes. From 2008 on their junior and minor teams are playing under the name of SG HSV Handball.

On 20 January 2016, their license was removed due to violations. In 2016–17 they are not allowed to play in the first or second league.[2]
