• Save text
• Apply plugin changes
  • If old text <> new text add 1 to Tagged
• Apply genfixes

Yes I am trying to assess. I can get through, say fifty or more without an error, and then it gets to a patch where its error after error. Then it clears back up and I can assess another fifty or so before it craps out again. I have just been going back and manually assessing all the errored ones right now. I think this is related to other errors posted here. Here's some examples:

1. Samuel Henderson (Indianapolis mayor), I can load the page, then click skip or save to get to the talk and it hangs. It never loads the talk page. If I click skip or save a second time, the above error occurs. If I click stop, then restart, or just click start without stopping, I get the above error too. Then upon restarting I get the "pluggin was expecting talk page" error.
2. Same with Jim Hill (Oregon politician)

Eventually you get through the "bad" articles and it will start working again. I don't see on the talk pages of those articles any comments, or things like that. And it is on such a variety of articles and they have no common template except the Indiana project template, which I am assessing for. —Charles Edward ^{(Talk | Contribs)} 14:09, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Happens when I try to do assessments with {{WikiProject Ontario Roads}}. Half the pages come up with an error saying 'AWB expected a talk page', with only OK to click. That stops the processing. I click start again, and it often skips the item and goes to the next and asks the same thing. A version of this error comes up whenever I try to load any plugin. This, like other SecurityExceptions seem to be, is probably caused by being on a network shared H drive. Dragging AWB's folder to the desktop didn't fix it.~ neko-chan :3 (talk) 19:17, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I know. But this happened in version 4.5, and I'm using the 5.0.3 and it is still there for that site (www.spescoladeteatro.org.br/enciclopedia/). I think the fix was only for the wikia sites. This site I'm attempting to connect is not related to Wikimedia (but it uses MediaWiki) and it is a single language project (it doesn't have interwikis ou subdomains like xx.spescoladeteatro.org.br/enciclopedia/, for instance). I think there's some bug in AWB with that, because I use it in a wiki in my notebook (http://localhost/wiki/) and there's no problem with that. This only happens when I try to use it on http://www.spescoladeteatro.org.br/enciclopedia/ . CasteloBranco^msg 12:02, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what caused it but I was trying out the 'Max edits' function in the bots tab. But when I turned 'Max edits' off, the error still happened. It appears to happen whenever I try to save the changes to the article. I downgraded to SVN 7505 and the bug disappeared. The cursor jumps. Try User:Magioladitis/Sandbox with settings to remove "remove me with F&R" wth F&R. Then highlight on alerts. I was trying to export a text file with the user contributions so that I could use it from another application while this error occured

Steps that I performed: Open List Splitter, Select Source to be User Contributions, Click on Make List, Sort alphabetically, remove duplicates, Sort Alphabetically, Remove some items at the top, remove some items at the end. There were 687 items and it did't save. I tried to save the contributions, The value of "Pages per files" was 1000. I found similar bugs but wasn't sure if they were related. On almost all page loads I do while running AWB, I get an error dialogue:

I got an error when I first started AWB which I, unfortunately, failed to copy. Then I got errors whenever I attempted to do anything. For example, when I tried to open a settings file, I got a NullReferenceException in MainForm.SetProject, which was previously reported three years ago and two years ago. Those were archived without action due to rarity, so there's probably no point re-reporting, although I do have the info if you think it might be helpful.

Then I got the above error whenever I tried to close down AWB. It's very frustrating to be unable to close a program because there's an error closing the program. I had to use the Windows Task Manager to close it. Then I was able to restart AWB normally. I didn't find any references to this in the archives. This all happened to me once before. Plugin++ not adding listas

Sorry, I don't understand myself most days too. I'm running AWB in manual mode. I said "LaraBot", because it produces a copious amounts of examples. The examples don't have listas and have "WikiProject Biography". If AWB is run manually, it will add listas if the example has "WPBiography", but not "WikiProject Biography". What do you mean you're not going to fix it? Perhaps you misunderstood the request. Without suggesting it on /Feature requests, someone has messed around with the Fix all excess whitespace command (whether deliberately or accidentally) so that it adds whitespace after bullets and no longer removes excess whitespace in section headings. Make list display becomes somewhat garbled when scrolling fast

Description	When quickly scrolling up and down through a large list in the make list window (by clicking and dragging the slider in the scroll bar), some of the entries overwrite each other in terms of how they are displayed. The entries themselves are fine; however, some of the article titles have the names of the articles that were above them listed on top of them. For example, one of the entries of the list I have open right now is for New York State Route 470. Keyboard shortcut stops working

Having to click in the edit box completely negates the convenience of having a keyboard shortcut (except on those occasions when you happen to have been making a manual edit anyways). The keyboard shortcut to Save should be just as available as the one to Ignore is. Try making a list of pages (with all skip options disabled), and see how easy it is to go through the list by pressing Alt-g to Ignore them. I think there are two issues with Alt-S:

1. When the browser portion of the window has the focus, it prevents the proper function of the Alt- and Cmd- functions. I bet IE grabs the keystrokes before the main thread of AWB sees them.
2. When "Start" is not the current tab and the Save button is not visible, the Alt-S shortcut won't work. Windows only honors Alt shortcuts for active controls, and a hidden control is not active.

It would be very helpful if this could be addressed. Having to click in the edit box before using Alt-S is inconvenient. Using a Cmd- key shortcut for a new "Save article text" menu entry would help with #2. I usually have the preference on "On loading show changes", but tried the two others as well. Makes no difference. Either you can see the problem immediately (when the change is done automatically) or after pressing the "Preview" button on the "Start" tab. Yes, that's why it's called the trick and listed under Help:Magic. I guess not using the pipe trick on automatic changes would be the Right Thing, but i like to use the trick on manual changes. I've seen it as well. I've always assumed it was because of the API, since if you edit an article in a browser, add a pipe-tricked linked link, and click "show changes", it shows the link being piped. I think that is intentional each file has a license template or two and each license template has great many language version links. This was causing an explosion of some link tables in the database. I was able to reproduce this once, but now can't get it to happen again. If I have understood your conclusion it's that the diacritic needs to be combined with the letter to the Unicode character for AWB to save. Yes, that was my conclusion. I think it might only be sequences that WP unicodifies upon saving, that there's a conflict between what AWB and WP are trying to do.

Try a symetric difference with list1.txt, and you get a list of 18 pages (found at User:Od Mishehu/symmetric difference), although the correct list must contain at least the difference between the list sizes (322 pages), since the longer list has no repeats. Clear list. Load the list from list1.txt, symmetric difference it with list2.txt, and you get an empty list. Note that this should be the equivelant to the earlier list, which had 18 pages.

Restarting in countdown timer

Such instances where AWB's logic to convert to a page range is incorrect do happen, but there must be hundreds of instances where the conversion was correct for each one that was wrong. The convention used is to put in the page ref with a non-breaking hyphen where it might look like a range, but isn't; this tells AWB not to make the change. I agree that it's right 99% of the time; but how can we make it not make this mistake? Maybe when it's ambiguous ask the editor to look and decide, to change the hyphen to non-breaking or to en dash as appropriate? CRL+A doesn't works on Find & Replace fields

To duplicate:	Go to the "Advanced settings" and click on "Find" field of a "Find and Replace rule", pressing CTRL+A doesn't works as expected: it whould select the whole content of the field. The same happens on field "Replace with". On the other hand, CTRL+A works normally on "Name" field.

SVN7794 I still get the problem. I found an option "Bypass all redirects" in a right-mouse menu and I couldn't find it anywere else. Incidentally, Microsoft guidelines say:

Aha! Yes I did. I've turned it off. So we have three options in three different places:

• 'Bypass all redirects'
• 'Follow redirects'
• Skip 'Page is a redirect'

Bad "in template" handling

The code splits out the template call into pieces if there are nested templates, so you end up with the double replacement you describe. I could change it, but the existing behaviour must be there for a reason, I don't know what that reason is. Rjwilmsi 21:06, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

I can't think of a reason why this would be desired behaviour. All I know is it makes it impossible to have reliable if and if not conditions and prevents my regex from working; which in turn means my bot needs to blacklist articles with certain templates likely to be found within templates. This makes it skip several articles it could otherwise be processing, and I need to review those manually to see if the edit won't screw things up. Slight bug in Unbalanced bracket logic

Description	When AWB looks at the table in the Delaware Route 82 it identifies the table as an unbalanced bracket but {{jctbtm}}at the end of the article which acts as a close bracket. Can the logic be refined to recognize this template as a close when it is preceded by an {|?

I personally think this needs to be revisited. There are many names in the Arabic name rules that should no longer be in there, all three examples given by Zetud for example. Minus people from Malaysia, 99% of living people with Arabic names do follow a surname, firstname pattern. The different 1% are dang hard to figure out they don't follow the pattern. This is similar to the Japanese surname problem. Living people (except sumo and kabuki) follow western order. Dead people before a certain date follow Chinese order. Duplicating text when trying to remove the Orphan Tag.

To duplicate:	Has happened on Andre Byrame, [17] and [18]. AWB adds an orphan tag to the article. I double click on the Orphan tag in the upper-right window to remove the tag. AWB removes the tag but then also duplicates the first paragraph. AWB did not do this for the Alfred Darjou article. I've haven't applied any changes to the Andre Byrame article in order for you to test it.
