Závist is a municipality and village in Blansko District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants.

Geography

Závist is located about 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Blansko and 18 km (11 mi) north of Brno. The southern part of the municipality with the built-up area lies in the northern tip of the Bobrava Highlands, the northern part lies in the Drahany Highlands. The highest point is at 475 m (1,558 ft) above sea level.

With an area of 0.42 km2 (0.16 sq mi), it is the smallest municipality in the country.[2]

Závist was founded in 1776.[3]

Transport

The I/43 road (part of European route E461), which connects Brno with Svitavy, passes through Závist.

Sights

There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[6] The main landmark of Závist is a belfry from 1833. Next to the belfry is a cross from 1857.[7]
