Tamer al-Awam , sometimes spelled Tamer Alawam, ((20 August 1978? – September 2012), was a Syrian filmmaker, journalist, and activist who was killed while working on a new film about the Free Syrian Army during the Syrian civil war in Aleppo ... He is known for his other Arabic-language documentary film called 'Memories At Checkpoint' for the Orient News pro-rebel television channel. Tamer al-Awam was originally from Soueida in the Druze mountains.
Career
Tamer al-Awam was a filmmaker and journalist. He studied film and cinema in Germany. He worked closely with media activists in both Syria and Germany. His Arabic Film "Memories at the Checkpoint" was a part of his active support of the "Free Syrian Army" in the current civil uprising in Syria.
Death
He died on 9 September 2012 in the Syrian city of Aleppo, while covering the battles of the Free Syrian Army. His death was a result of injuries from shrapnel.

When he died he was working on a film on the Free Syrian army.
Impact
He played an active role in covering the events surrounding the current Syrian civil uprising. He worked closely with Syrian activists and rebels on the front lines of the movement. He also communicated with the local Syrian people helping them get their voices heard.
