Mogi das Cruzes (Portuguese pronunciation: [moˈʒi] or [muˈʒi das ˈkɾuzis]) is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, located within the metropolitan region of the state capital of the city of São Paulo. The population is 450,785 (2020 est.) in an area of 713 km2.[3] It is located 40 km to the east of the city of São Paulo. It was founded in 1560 by the bandeirantes.[4]
