These pioneers to the w:Ohio Country established w:Marietta, Ohio as the first permanent American settlement of the new w:United States in the w:Northwest Territory, and opened the westward expansion of the new country. This image is from the book by John T. Faris, On the Trail of the Pioneers, published in 1920.
