DescriptionLa Gloria y los Pegasos (Querol) Madrid 01.jpg |
English: Allegorical sculpture representing the progress of Agriculture and Industry. It's one of the three parts of a sculptural group named La Gloria y los Pegasos ("The Glory and the Pegasus") at the top of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food headquarters in Madrid, that symbolizes Progress. The group was designed by Agustí Querol Subirats (1860–1909), scupted in Carrara marble in 1905, and replaced in 1976 by a bronze replica by Juan de Ávalos. The original marble sculptures were restored and placed at two squares in Madrid in 1995 and 1998. The image shows a female figure as a symbol of Agriculture, holding on a plough (right hand) while taking the reins of the winged horse, ridden by a male figure representing Industry (not shown).
