English: Portrait of Confederate Captain John Jackson Dickison, taken in 1864. Note: As Captain of Company H of the 2nd Florida Cavalry, Dickison emerged as a hero of guerilla warfare. He commanded some 200 mounted men, responsible for defending an area stretching from Palatka, Florida up the St. John's River to Volusia County. Dickison captured the gunboat "Columbine" on May 23, 1864. |
