English: Informal portrait of 1417 Signaller (Sig) Stuart (Dick) Smith of Ballarat, Victoria. Sig Smith enlisted in on the 3 August 1915, and formed part of the 11th Reinforcements of the 7th Australian Light Horse Regiment. He was killed by shell fire during the Battle of Romani on the 4 August 1916, and is buried at Kantara War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt. |
