The 2025 United States presidential inauguration will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, on the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. The event will be the 60th presidential inauguration. The winner of the 2024 United States presidential election is expected to take the oath of office as president on that day, and the winner's running mate is expected take the oath of office as vice president.

The preceding ceremony for the inauguration of Joe Biden was largely curtailed due to extraordinary political, public health, economic, and national security crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and January 6 attack.

Planning

Construction of the 2021 inaugural platform at the United States Capitol began in September 2020.

Joint Congressional Committee

In May 2024, both houses of Congress appointed a Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies to oversee construction of the platform and other temporary structures that will be necessary for the ceremonies and celebrations.[1]
