Order in Council authorizing the Cherry Street Swing Bridge.

On a Memorandum dated 23rd December 1896, from the Minister of Public Works, stating that the Corpor-ation of the City of Toronto have ap-plied for permission to construct a swing bridge from the north bank of the River Don to the South bank thereof, so as to extend Cherry Street across the river, as shown on the plans and descrip-tion hereto attached; and that the Chief Engineer of Public Works has reported in the matter as follows:- "In my opinion there is no objection to granting to the City of Toronto, permission to build the bridge in question, in as much as the two clear spans of 52 feet on either side of the centre pier, are sufficient to accommodate navigation on that river."
