Summary

Description
English: U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Daniel Smith, originally from Helena, Mont., and an electrician with the 777th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron at Kandahar Airfield, receives an Army Achievement Medal from the 4-73rd Cavalry Battalion Commander, U.S. Army Lt. Col. Michael Wawrzyniak, on Jan. 24, Forward Operating Base Farah, Afghanistan. Smith (pictured in the center) and two plumbers from the 777th ECES, Staff Sgt. Destrey Robbins, originally from Madison, Neb., and Airman 1st Class Whitney Sargent, who hails from Tucson, Ariz., were each awarded an Army Achievement Medal for their work while visiting FOB Farah. The three engineers travelled to FOB Farah with Drew Clemens, a geologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to assess the well and water distribution system. Once all the data was collected on the well project, Smith, Robbins, and Sargent all volunteered their skills to the FOB Mayor. "They probably moved us forward by two or three weeks on some of the projects," Master Sgt. Guy Powell, the FOB Mayor said. "They've done a lot in a short period of time." All three of the Airmen are deployed to Afghanistan from Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.
