JPEG file comment | ROBERT, Hubert
(b. 1733, Paris, d. 1808, Paris) The Pont du Gard 1787 Oil on canvas, 242 x 242 cm Musée du Louvre, Paris Hubert Robert, who learned his trade during a long journey through Italy, was a very producti8ve artist. He took over from Pannini the theme of ruins, but in his hands it became less dry and more picturesque.
