Description

Dr. John Mather, senior project scientist and Nobel Laureate, spoke today at NASA's Johnson Space Center about, "Future Science, Brilliant Engineering for James Webb Space Telescope." Mather said he spoke on behalf of "7 billion current earthlings, 10,000 future observers, 3,000 engineers and technicians, 100 scientists worldwide, and 3 space agencies."

Why is Webb at Johnson now? For a ~100 day cryogenic test, which will put Webb's optics and instruments through their paces in an environment similar to which they will be operating in space.
