The 1862 Kansas gubernatorial election was held on 4 November 1862 in order to elect the Governor of Kansas. Republican nominee and incumbent member of the Kansas House of Representatives Thomas Carney defeated National Union nominee and incumbent member of the Kansas Legislature William Ross Wagstaff.[1][2]

General election

On election day, 4 November 1862, Republican nominee Thomas Carney won the election by a margin of 4,534 votes against his opponent National Union nominee William Ross Wagstaff, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of Governor. Carney was sworn in as the 2nd Governor of Kansas on 12 January 1863.[3]
